APDE – Portuguese Association on European Law
APDE is presiding FIDE from 2016 until 2018 and, in that capacity, has been entrusted with the responsibility to organize the XXVIII FIDE Congress to be held in 2018 in Portugal. APDE is the Portuguese member of FIDE. The association was founded in 1984 and aims to contribute to the diffusion of EU Law in Portugal.

José Luís da Cruz Vilaça
Judge at the Court of Justice since October 2012; President of Chamber; President of FIDE since May 2016.
Degree in Law and master's degree in Political Economy at the University of Coimbra; Doctorate in International Economics (University of Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne); military service in the Portuguese Navy (Justice Department, 1969-1972); Professor at the Catholic University of Lisbon – Global School of Law; formerly Assistant Professor at the University of Coimbra. Full Professor at Lusíada University, Lisbon (Director of the Institute for European Studies) and Visiting Professor at the Nova University of Lisbon.

Nuno Piçarra
Associated professor of the Law Faculty of the Nova University of Lisbon, vice-president of the Portuguese Association of European Law, Portuguese member of the Academic Network for Legal Studies on Immigration and Asylum in Europe (Odysseus), of the Network for Free Movement of Workers and Social Security Coordination (FreSsco) and of the Management Board of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights;
Member of the former Framework for Permanent Concertation of the Schengen Convention and of the former K.4 Committee of the EU Council; former legal secretary in the cabinet of the president of the Court of First Instance. Main publications on Constitutional Law and on EU Justice and Home Affairs Law.
Rita Leandro Vasconcelos
Of Counsel at Cuatrecasas in the practice area of EU and Competition Law. Master in European Law from the University of Lisbon Law School in 2004. Master in Economics for Competition Law, King's College London, 2009.
João Teixeira de Matos
Head of the EU and Antitrust Department of Garrigues (Portugal). Graduated in law at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, where pursued post-graduate studies obtaining a diploma in European Studies. Also obtained a Master of law (EU law) at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Lectured EU law and Competition Law at Universidade Moderna (Lisbon) and at EU-China Law School (Beijing and Shanghai). Former Judge for the European Law Moot Court Society.
Nuno Ruiz
Partner at Vieira de Almeida Law Firm (VdA) in the area of EU and Competition Law. European Law Studies at the College of Europe, Bruges; Law degree and LLM in Economic Law at the University of Lisbon Law School; Visiting Professor at the University of Lisbon Law School and at the Portuguese Catholic University.
Miguel Gorjão-Henriques
Partner of Sérvulo, heading the European and Competition Law department (including Pharma). President of Portugal's ICC Competition Commission. Specialist Lawyer in European and Competition Law recognised by the Bar Association. Delivered the PhD in 2016 at the Coimbra University Law Faculty where he taught since 1992.
Founder of the Circle of Portuguese Competition Lawyers, has more than 60 publications in the areas of EU, Pharmaceutical and Competition law.

Alberto Saavedra
At Sérvulo since 2015, Alberto Saavedra is an Associate in the European and Competition department. He concluded the LL.M – Master of Laws in European and Competition Law at University College London (UCL), in 2009; obtained a graduate qualification in competition law from King's College London (University of London), in 2006; graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal, Porto School, in 2004.
Joana Schmid Moura
Associate in PLMJ’s EU and Competition Law practice area, having joined the firm in 2013. She holds an LL.M. – Master of Laws in European Law from the College of Europe (2013) and from Leiden University (2010). She did a traineeship at the European Commission’s Legal Service in 2012 and worked in EU public affairs in Brussels between 2010 and 2012.
João de Lemos Portugal
Associate Lawyer at Cuatrecasas, with core practice areas in Public Law, Competition and Real Estate. He was an Adviser and Deputy Head of Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Economy of the XIX Constitutional Portuguese Government. He concluded the Master in Administrative Law and Public Procurement and is currently attending the LL.M - Master in International Business Law at Portuguese Catholic University.

Joined the firm Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira in 2003 as assistant of the corporate, real state and competitions Departments. Has an academic degree in psychology.
Leonor Bettencourt Nunes
Legal Adviser to the Minister of Economy. Trainee Lawyer and Associate at Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados in the field of European and Competition Law (2013-2017). LL.M degree in European Law at King’s College of London (2012). Trainee at the European Commission’s DG Competition (2012) and at the Competition Law practice of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Brussels (2013).
Margarida Rosado da Fonseca
Of Counsel and Head of the Antitrust and Competition of DLA Piper ABBC. Law degree at the University of Lisbon Law School; European Law Studies at the College of Europe, Bruges; Former Merger Director at the Portuguese Competition Authority; Integrated ESAME - Technical team of the XIX Government, in charge of the coordination and implementation of the Economic and Financial Assistance Program of the IMF/EC/ECB (troika) to Portugal, having dealt mainly with regulation and competition.
Margarida Sameiro
Head of Public Affairs at Vieira de Almeida Law Firm (VdA), re-joined the firm in 2009. Law Degree (1998), post-graduations in Securities Law (2004) and in Industrial Property Law (2014) all by the Faculty of Law of University of Lisbon. Certified IEFP trainer no. F634806/2015. Admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association (2001). Margarida was managing associate in the IP area of practice at VdA until September 2016.
Piedade Castro e Sousa
Associate Lawyer of the European and Competition Law department at Vieira de Almeida Law Firm (VdA). She holds a law degree from the Catholic University of Lisbon and an LLM in Law in a European and Global Context from the Catholic Global School of Law, which included an exchange at the Cornell Law School.
